Northam Ballooning Events have advised that in light of the recent Covid-19 outbreaks across the nation and subsequent lockdowns, border closures and travel restrictions into WA, they have made the difficult decision to postpone and reschedule the 2021 National Ballooning Championships, Northam, with plans to reschedule the event to April/May 2022.

The Shire of York regrets to advise that Yorkids 2019 will not be going ahead this year.

The Shire is trialling additional safety strategies this year including a multi-lingual canola information flyer, availability of biosecurity signage for farming properties and peak weekend ranger patrols. If you’ve never heard of Wara Art, that is all about to change. While some rural communities have their scarecrows and The York Festival has its sculpture competition the Hay Bale Challenge, Japan has Wara Art – a spectacular example of a highly creative use of straw.
