Parks & Public Facilities

York has three scenic parks:

Avon Park

Lowe Street.

Avon Park was extensively re-developed in June 2020. Located in Lowe Street, Avon Park is a large, grassed area which runs alongside the Avon River. It is one of the most popular parks in York. There are free electric BBQ facilities with picnic tables and seating, toilets & a Nature Play playground area and Skate Park.

On the North side of the park there is the Swinging Bridge which crosses the river and is a popular viewing spot for many tourists. The rotunda located by the Swinging Bridge is the trail head for the Avon River Walk Trail.

York is an RV friendly Shire with 24-hour free RV parking and a dump point located at Janet Millett Lane, on the opposite side of the river from Avon Park.
