Nylon Zoo - The York Festival

The Nylon Zoo comprises a large selection of costumes and an inflatable storytelling theater. The colourful costumes invite children to engage with Australian Native Creatures. The children select a costume, which slips easily over their clothes and explore their animal thorough movement or dance. After this the children move into the inflatable theatre with their storyteller who welcomes them with an Acknowledgement of Country. They describe some of the creative processes involved in making the giant inflatable. The children are introduced to concepts of healthy living and protecting our environment, including a healthy living ABC and an entertaining story about the Echidna. These stories inspire the children to use their imaginations and include information about the Echidna's behavior, habitat and food sources.
