About Michelle Kickett:

Michelle is a Noongar who comes from Bal-lar-dong tribe located in the Wheatbelt region of W.A. Michelle has been painting since a teen and has facilitated several art workshops with children, youth and adults. Her artwork is based on the local and surrounding country within the Ballardong and Whadjuk areas where her father and mother's families are traditionally connected to. 

About the Workshop:

Title: Mooditj Koolangahs Art Workshop
Theme: Kambarang – Colours of Country
Age Group: 7–12 years Duration: 2 Days | 2–3 hours per session

Booking is essential as numbers are limited.

Details: The workshop will offer an educational talk about the Kambarang season of Spring plus offer a painting workshop that teaches the children to paint using traditional techniques.

Workshop Outline:

Day 1: Symbols of the Season
Focus: Understanding Kambarang through story, symbols, and colour

Introduce Aboriginal symbols: waterholes, animal tracks, flowers,
Outcome:
Each child completes a draft sketch and colour plan for their final painting

Day 2: Painting Country
Focus: Creating individual and collaborative artworks
Activities:

Individual Canvas Painting:
o Transfer Day 1 sketch onto canvas or board
o Use dot painting, layering, and storytelling techniques
