Desert Dreams ~ Three perspectives of the Australian Outback
The Artists:
John Kaye grew up among the valleys and hills of the Pyrenees Ranges in Victoria. After a career in forestry in WA, John began painting the natural environment. He won the York Art Prize in 2022 and was an Artist in Residence at Beverley Station Gallery in 2019, 2020 and 2022.
Dennis Kickett, known as Noongarli is a Noongar elder and artist who is traditionally connected to the Ballardong Tribe located in York, where he grew up. He spent his early life shearing and working all over the state with isolated Aboriginal people. Dennis has been exhibiting since 1989 and has also operated a couple of his own galleries at various times.
Andrea Flint retired from a long career lecturing art and design at TAFE then travelled extensively throughout Australia. Andrea continues her involvement in art and design through the creation of artworks, mentoring artists and has established Pantechnica Gallery in the Heritage Area on Avon Terrace in York.
