York Tourism
York offers visitors the quintessential country experience, only an hour's drive east of Perth in the heart of Ballardong Noongar Country.
York is the oldest inland European settlement in Western Australia, originally established to grow cereal crops to feed the Swan River Settlement in 1829. The town is listed as a Heritage Precinct due to the significant number of historic buildings throughout the township. York continues to attract visitors for adventure recreation experiences, natural environment, annual festivals and is growing as an arts community and hub for artists.
It is also a popular setting for events, weddings, car rallies and motorbike rides, with a dedicated events team and a captive audience made up of locals and regular visitors to the region.
