Wheatbelt Threads Exhibition

Friday 6th November 2026

Building on the success of the #roadtoyork textile workshops at the Residency Museum with textile artist Louise Wells in 2024, many people sought to establish a textile group that met regularly in York. On Sunday April 13th 2025 a group of like-minded individuals gathered in Andrea’s studio at the rear of Pantechnica Gallery in Avon Terrace.

The focus was to start up a group for creative locals who would like to meet regularly, share textile ideas, skills and a few resources.

The aims of the group were set out as follows –

  • To meet regularly to support each other and create social connection.
  • To share ideas and skills providing a learning experience for participants.

We are an informal group bound only by common interest, respect and friendship.

  • We meet Friday fortnights from 10-12.00 at Pantechnica Gallery.
  • There is no hierarchy or membership fee.
  • All decisions are made by discussion and consensus.
  • New members are welcome.

A Group Face-book page was created and Jennifer Tilt is the admin. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1527199328719214/

To help with cohesion of ideas the theme of “Trees” was selected to reflect our country environment and the many differing approaches this could afford artists working with textiles.

The general consensus was to work toward exhibiting the pieces created in 2026; providing an aim and purpose.

The Exhibition Opening Night is 6th November 2026, all welcome.
