The Avon Descent race will take you on an exciting two day trial, over 124 grueling kilometres. The race offers competitors conditions ranging from long stretches of flat water that can test the endurance of the fittest athletes, rapids, thick ti-trees, rocky drops to all the other challenges of a changing, wild river environment
The Avon Descent travels through some of Western Australia’s most picturesque country, and as you descend, you’ll pass through the farming regions of historic Northam and Toodyay, forested national
parks, steep gorges, the Swan Valley vineyard region and eventually, into the tidal waters of the upper Swan River. Competitors challenge the Avon and Swan Rivers in a variety of power dinghies and paddle craft including single and double kayaks and surf skis and other sundry craft. Relay teams of two and four can also compete. Competitors are supported by family and friends as support crews and thousands of spectators line the banks to cheer them on
