WA Regional Boundaries to close

Mark McGowan has just made the following announcement:

"From midnight Tuesday, restrictions will be placed on travel within the entire State of Western Australia.

Western Australians will not be permitted to leave their regional boundary.

It’s absolutely vital every Western Australian understands – you cannot travel within WA. It must stop immediately.

Police have the power to enforce these restrictions if necessary, and fines of up to $50,000 can be issued.

To be clear, those are: the Kimberley, Pilbara, Gascoyne, Mid-West, Goldfields-Esperance, Wheatbelt, Great Southern and South West.

Exemptions will apply for, among other things, essential services and workers, including health and emergency services; people living in ‘border communities’, who may not have access to groceries or supplies within their region; employment purposes; medical reasons; transport of essential goods and some compassionate grounds.

If you are currently away from home - you need to come back. Now.

If you were planning a trip - you cannot go".
